World Economic Forum 2025 – Session dedicated on “Water at a Tipping Point”

The 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum was held in Davos, Switzerland on 20-24th January 2025, and convened the foremost leaders from government, business and civil society – as well as preeminent scientific and cultural thinkers – under the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age”.

In the framework of the theme “Safeguarding the Planet“, a specific session was dedicated on “Water at a Tipping Point“, which can be briefly described as follows:

Water systems are reaching a tipping point, with increasing floods and droughts affecting multiple regions globally. In five years, it is estimated that half the world will face water stress, jeopardizing productivity, public health and food security, and threatening $1.6 trillion in assets. How can we leverage technology, governance and finance innovations to avoid or manage water tipping points?

Among the speakers, was Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, European Commission.
