The workshop brought together hydrologists and data-driven experts to explore pathways to bring new data sets and data-driven modelling approaches from hydrologic research to the more practical and operational planning level in river basins. The participants (35 onsite and 15 online) gained understanding of different models that can be useful for water management, developed hands-on experience building and applying deep learning models for rainfall-runoff modelling, and got a feeling for the role of architectures and data in building robust methods. The exchanges and discussions allowed the STARS4Water partners to have a broad view of how the methods they have been developing fit within state-of-the-art techniques and can be further enhanced by these.
