This webinar introduces a diagnostic methodology for assessing groundwater resource availability and its status, with the aim of supporting local groundwater management. The four key components of the methodology and their calculation process are presented, along with their implementation in the Spanish section of the Duero River Basin. The limitations of the methodology are also discussed.
Learning Objectives
- Presentation of a diagnostic methodology for assessing groundwater resource availability
- Introduction to components of the methodology, including: the Groundwater Resource Availability Index (GWAI), the Reference Piezometric Levels, and Application Guidelines
- Demonstration the application of the methodology to the Spanish sections of the Duero River Basin District
- Provide support for local and groundwater management through practical tools
Target Audience
- Water managers and planners involved in the assessment of groundwater status, modellers, practitioners
Keywords
groundwater status, groundwater availability index, piezometric levels
